In the Under 21ââ...
- ...‚¬â„˘s series, Molson Kawasaki rider Ray Rowson lead from the first race of
the season through to and most
importantly the end! He controlled the
entire championship and finally took
the silverware with another double race
win in the last round, eleven wins and
three second places in the series for
Ray, an awesome year! ‘I rode hard in
the early rounds to get established and
then just controlled it from then on.
The bike was awesome and once I got
enough points to be a race in front I
just did what I needed to do to get the
title, at the end it felt quite relaxed and easy’, said Ray.
In the Fourstroke class MotoXtreme rider Mark Hucklebridge came out of the gate in full fighting mode on his KX450F. Nearly two seconds faster than any other rider in qualifying and taking both race wins over the meeting to finish second overall in the
2007 championship. Fellow Kawasaki KX450F rider Bryan MacKenize was also on the
podium for the last round, in
equal second with another
rider to make it a good days
racing for the green machines.
Hucklebridge commented, ‘I’m
a little disappointed the last
round was cancelled as I felt I
had a good chance at the title,
being only twelve points
behind after this round. But
looking on the bright side it’s
been another good year on
the KX450F with solid results’.
DP Brakes win ATV Championship August 30th, 2007

- ...ionship lead, retaining his number one British Champion title. Paul Holmes produced another superb result which took him to the top of the under 21’s championship in only his second season.
John’s final round of the CCM British MMX Quad Championships didn’t get off to a good start when a rule infringement dropped him to 14th place in qualifying. This was disappointing as the DP BRakes/ATV World Yamaha YFZ450’s were running perfectly. John was the fastest, but dropped to third at the end of the session. Starting back in 14th, John described it as the most nerve wracking day of the season. Paul Holmes was riding well in qualifying to finish seventh but due to John’s penalty, moved up to sixth.
In race one, John said; “At least it was a front row start, but I was at the far outside of the start line. I gated mid-pack, but got boxed in on the third corner and got stuck in one of the many deep ruts that the bikes and sidecars had left which put me dead last. I pushed as hard as I could, posting the fastest lap and getting up to third on the last lap.” John now only had an eight point lead of Paul Winrow in the championship. Paul Holmes didn’t get the best start, making 17th off the start. Paul worked his way up to 11th but was suffering from a gear problem.
John Mitchell got a much better start in race two and took the lead after a couple of laps. John pulled a comfortable gap from second place man Ricky Tordoff, allowing him to relax and race as smooth as possible, finishing with an awesome 43 second lead. Paul Holmes had also got a better start this time and had a superb race to finish in eighth place, taking the 2007 under 21 championship title and finishing 10th overall in the British Championship.
It was a jubilant day for DP Brakes/team ATV World as John retained the number one position as Champion and Paul Holmes achieved his target of becoming the under 21 British Champion. But the season doesn’t stop here. With John leading the IOPD British Quad-X Championship and the European Quadcross Championships, the opportunity to win the treble is still on.
Team ATV World Yamaha now travels to Hungary for the third round of the European Quadcross Championships on 26th August. Thanks for all the support from the sponsors who have helped team DP Brakes/ATV World Yamaha, John Mitchell and Paul Holmes become the undisputed 2007 British Champions.
